Overview
San Antonio has evolved into one of Texas's best-connected cities. Residents in most neighborhoods can choose from fiber, cable, 5G home internet, and even satellite options. Competition between AT&T, Spectrum, Google Fiber, and wireless providers has driven prices down while speeds continue to increase.
Best Fiber Options
AT&T Fiber leads the pack with multi-gig speeds up to 5 Gbps in many San Antonio neighborhoods. Google Fiber offers excellent 2 Gbps service in select areas. Both provide symmetrical upload and download speeds, no data caps, and reliable performance. If fiber is available at your address, it's almost always the best choice.
Cable Internet
Spectrum provides the most widespread cable coverage in San Antonio. While upload speeds are limited compared to fiber, their no-contract policy and free equipment make them attractive. Expect reliable 300-1000 Mbps download speeds depending on your plan.
Alternatives
T-Mobile and Verizon 5G Home Internet offer wireless alternatives in areas with strong coverage. For rural properties outside the city, Starlink has become the go-to option, delivering speeds that would have been unimaginable for satellite internet just a few years ago.
Our Recommendation
For most San Antonio residents, we recommend checking AT&T Fiber first. If unavailable, Spectrum is a reliable second choice. Those in rural areas should seriously consider Starlink – it's a game-changer for Texas Hill Country properties.
